This brief glimpse of a fleeting deer before he vanishes into the frosty November morning reminds me of some of my hunting experiences.  I have often stood for twenty minutes scoping a distant ridge or watching an opening in the forest.  Just as I put my gun on my shoulder and take a step to leave, several perfectly camouflaged deer statues (only yards away) spring to life and then quickly disappear into  the nearby cover.  It’s survival for them, it’s one more year without meat in the freezer for me!
